After a 10-minute fight that was described as an "epic bidding war" the pair of singing-bird pistols were sold for $5.8 million at a Christie's International sale in Hong Kong on May 29 of this year.
Christies and other auctioneers are business, not art collections. They love to drive prices high on exotic tingel-tangel.
